The Founding of Palomino RV
The story begins in 1968. A tent trailer distributor named Vern Landey decided to build his own models. He wanted to focus on creating a lightweight design to make towing easier. He also wanted to make better floor layout options that better-utilized space and made for a more enjoyable time inside the RV. These innovative new models were also offered at a lower price.
The first Palomino RV models were made in Savage, Minnesota. But soon the customer demand exceeded the facility's production ability. By 1972, the company moved to a larger space in Colon, Michigan. Even though a fire destroyed many aspects of the production building in 1992, Palomino RV was still able to sell at high rates.
Changes to Palomino RV
In 1998, the company opened a 75,000 square foot production facility to help keep up with customer demand. They also crafted a new ultra-lightweight travel trailer line, which helped promote Vern Landey's original mission to build lightweight models.
In 2002, the parent company of Palomino RV was purchased by Forest River. This incorporated Palomino RV into one of the largest RV manufacturers in North America. This led to a large increase in sales and production while Palomino RV continued operating independently of the parent company. This allows Palomino RV to maintain its unique vision and small business values, such as providing exceptional customer service.
